These gals sure know how to sing.

The Agoura Hills Harmony Chorus, also known as Ahh! Cappella, captured second place in the Small Chorus Division and third place overall in the Regional Sweet Adelines International chorus competition April 1 at the Performing Arts Center in Oxnard.

First place in the small chorus category went to Las Vegas Lady Luck. The overall Region 11 chorus championship, which included small- and mid-sized groups, went to Santa Monica Chorus.

The Ahh! Cappella 27-member chorus is led by Monica Tautkus of Westlake Village, who has taken the vocalists to 16 annual competitions, which have previously been held in Bakersfield.

This year, Tautkus also directed the Mass Sing, a gathering of all the competing choruses to jointly sing some internationally known Sweet Adelines’ favorite songs.

“The new competition venue was perfect for us . . . what a wonderful opportunity to perform right here in our own Ventura County,” said Tautkus. “We are thrilled to have made such a good showing and to have spent an entire weekend in harmony with our sisters in song.”

Chorus members come from all walks of life: educators, business professionals, medical personnel, engineers, mothers, singles, wives, sisters and more.

Ahh! Cappella, which performs regularly throughout the community, holds weekly rehearsals in Thousand Oaks and is auditioning new members.

Women who love to sing will find more information at the website ahhchorus.net or call (805) 531-3714.

Ahh! Cappella is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a women’s organization that elevates women singers worldwide through education, performances and competition in barbershop harmony and a cappella music.

Founded in 1945, Sweet Adelines is one of the largest nonprofit singing organizations for women, with more than 20,000 members in over 500 choruses and 900 quartets across the globe.
